Problem Statement
Accessing appropriate healthcare in Tanzania often involves critical delays caused by information asymmetry. Patients experiencing specific symptoms frequently present to primary health centers or dispensaries that lack the necessary specialized personnel (e.g., pediatricians, cardiologists, surgeons) or equipment (e.g., ICU beds, dialysis units). This leads to unnecessary referrals, lost time during critical emergency windows, and overcrowding at national referral hubs.
Proposed Solution
The Hospital Finder with Specialties system is a web-based public health platform designed to streamline patient routing across Tanzania's healthcare hierarchy. By combining AI-driven natural language symptom triage with geospatial proximity mapping, the system translates user-reported symptoms into clinical specialty needs and immediately routes patients to the nearest qualified medical facility.
Innovation
it allow user to know the nearest hospital if he/she did not know the place
Expected Impact
EXPECTED PUBLIC HEALTH IMPACT Reduced Referral Bottlenecks: Directs patients to the correct facility tier on their initial visit, preventing unnecessary overcrowding at zonal referral hospitals. Minimized Mortality in Emergencies: Emergency acuity classification flags critical cases immediately, guiding users to facilities with active emergency departments. Localized Accessibility: Full support for Swahili natural language input ensures high usability across rural and urban populations in Tanzania.
